Toriana S. Holmes

Toriana S. Holmes

From the time she was in high school, Toriana Holmes knew she would be a lawyer. While working toward her J.D., she sought opportunities to pursue her interest in social justice and clerked for the Honorable Kathleen Kelly at San Francisco’s Youth Guidance Center of the San Francisco Superior Court.

Before joining Laughlin Legal, Toriana handled a number of high-profile cases at the firm of Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy, where she practiced in numerous areas including elder abuse, securities, financial fraud, and business and consumer litigation including class actions, and antitrust.

But it wasn’t until she began serving on the Board of Directors for CORA, Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse, that Toriana found her passion/niche – as a family law attorney specifically practicing in the areas of, divorce, child custody and child support, and as a domestic violence lawyer advocating for clients physically and/or emotionally controlled and/or abused by their partner.

Toriana is also a trained divorce mediation attorney and collaborative law attorney, two empowering alternatives to traditional litigation. Within the context of a private and confidential setting outside of court, clients have the opportunity to exercise 100% ownership over their family’s future by jointly choosing the best outcome for their family. She also volunteers as a Settlement Conference Officer with the San Francisco Superior Court to assist self-represented litigants in family court to help them understand the court process, and guide them on how to reach agreements and resolve remaining issues.

When not working, Toriana enjoys spending time with her family and her dog and introducing her daughter to her favorite stomping grounds as a third generation San Francisco native.
