Leslie Figueroa
Leslie Figueroa has a unique insight into family law that benefits her clients. Her parents divorced during her teen years, and she recalls negotiating parenting schedules between them when they were not able to agree. She began her career in family law as a legal assistant while attending college, then became a paralegal, then a courtroom clerk for a Judge. She later attended law school and was a Judicial Clerk for two family law Judges who explained their thinking and reasoning in deciding the cases before them.
Going through her own divorce increased her compassion and understanding for anyone in family court and going through the divorce process. She knows the frustrations of the family law system, the importance of knowing when to push an issue or let it go, the constant desire to want to protect your children, and the sense of relief felt when you have a final Judgment and resolution. Leslie believes that there is a better path and plan in her client’s futures after family law turmoil, and her goal is to help them get there.
Due to her extensive experience in family law prior to attending law school, Leslie knew the importance of becoming an effective advocate in the courtroom. She chose to focus on building her trial skills during law school and joined the mock trial team to do so. Two top District Attorneys spent dozens of hours personally teaching and mentoring Leslie to perfect her trial skills and improve upon her already natural ease and familiarity in a courtroom setting. She excelled in mock trial and qualified for and attended the national finals, making it to the final round.
Throughout Leslie’s years in family law, she focuses on listening to her clients, helping them understand the path ahead of them, and explaining their choices before moving forward. While she believes it is best to reach agreements out of family court for greater flexibility and customization of family and individual needs, she also knows that is sometimes not possible.
