Amy has been achieving exceptional results for clients since 1992. After graduating with honors from The University of Michigan Law School, Amy joined the San Francisco office of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, LLP. While there, she counseled individuals in a wide range of complex financial and litigation matters and represented children and families in a number of cases including: legal guardianship, immigration, foster care, and domestic violence.
In 2013, Amy opened her own practice where she focuses primarily on complex family law matters and literary law. Amy is an involved member of the San Mateo area community, serving as Board Member of the Foundation of the San Mateo Public Library, Member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Day School Board of Trustees, and a member of both the Burlingame and San Mateo Chambers of Commerce. In addition to her law degree, Amy holds an M.F.A. in creative writing, is a writer of fiction, mother of two boys, runner, hiker and avid traveler.

After receiving a Master of Arts degree in English Composition Theory, Paul graduated from Golden Gate University School of Law in 1999 and has practiced family law exclusively ever since. He served nearly a decade in the Office of the Family Law Facilitator (both in Sonoma and San Francisco) where he assisted hundreds of self-represented litigants navigate the complex world of the family court. Paul has also served as an adjunct professor of writing at numerous Bay Area universities. In his free time, Paul reads voraciously, indulges in creative writing, and dotes upon his young nephews.

Susie received her B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles. She received a J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law, where she graduated cum laude. In law school, she volunteered her time helping low-income women obtain temporary restraining orders against abusive boyfriends/husbands and also volunteered at the Mediation Clinic.
Before joining Laughlin Legal, PC as an associate in October 2015, Susie worked at a firm in Menlo Park specializing in business and contract law. Following law school, Susie practiced employment law at Gordon and Rees, LLP in San Francisco, first as a summer associate and then as an associate. Susie also spent a summer clerking for the Honorable William Cahill in the Law and Motion Department of the San Francisco Superior Court.

Licensed both in California and New York, Stephen is an experienced negotiator and a skilled litigator. After receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from the University of Michigan and working in the tech industry, Stephen attended Vanderbilt Law School for his Doctor of Jurisprudence. Stephen started his legal career in 2007 as a New York patent litigator, then later an in-house attorney. After years of dealing with corporate issues, Stephen felt a strong desire to help people on a more personal level. Since moving to California in 2015, Stephen has devoted his practice only to family law. In his free time, Stephen enjoys Brazilian jujitsu and boxing. Stephen is bilingual in English and Korean.

Cavan Boyle is a family law attorney who recently moved from Boston, MA to the Bay Area. Cavan graduated from Suffolk University Law School in Boston and is admitted in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. He began his career in private practice where he represented clients involved in an array of legal matters, including family law, criminal defense and general civil litigation. Cavan is enjoying the California weather and all surrounding attractions the area has to offer.

Yau received her Juris Doctor from Golden Gate University School of Law and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Ethnic Studies from the University of California, San Diego. Prior to joining Laughlin Legal, PC, Yau served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Judge Monica F. Wiley, Judge Lillian K. Sing (retired) and Judge Ronald E. Alberts at the San Francisco Unified Family Court. She also worked as a court paralegal at the ACCESS Self-Help Center for the San Francisco Superior Court. Yau is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

Ruth was born and raised in El Salvador. She has known and worked with Amy in various capacities since 2004. In 2009, Ruth obtained her Associates degree in Business Management, and in March 2016 she joined Laughlin Legal, PC as a Legal Assistant. Ruth is a Licensed California Notary Public and plays an important role in the day-to-day operations of the firm. During her personal time, she is furthering her education and working toward obtaining her paralegal certification. Ruth is fluent in English and Spanish.
